SediCore® Carb Tertiary Treatment Process
SediCore® Carb Process is an organic integration of advanced activated carbon adsorption and micro-sand ballasted flocculation technologies. It enables full utilization and efficient separation of activated carbon, primarily used in advanced treatment to further remove dissolved organic pollutants.
Applications
1. Urban Water Supply Treatment:
Advanced treatment for direct drinking water in water treatment plants.
Advanced treatment of micro-polluted water sources containing COD, hormones, pesticides, etc.
2. Municipal Wastewater Treatment:
Upgrading and retrofitting wastewater treatment plants to remove refractory COD, color, odor, etc.
3. Industrial Wastewater Treatment:
Removal of refractory COD.
Process Principles
1. Activated Carbon Contact Tank: Raw water is thoroughly mixed with powdered activated carbon (PAC) in the contact tank, where PAC adsorbs organic pollutants.
2. Coagulation Tank: Coagulants (aluminum or iron salts) are added to destabilize colloidal particles.
3. Flocculation Tank: Polymeric flocculants are introduced. Under slow agitation, PAC particles, recycled micro-sand, and destabilized colloids form flocs.
4. Sedimentation Tank: Flocs settle at the bottom, while residual micro-flocs are further separated via inclined tubes. Clear water is collected through effluent troughs.
5. Recycling System: A pump recirculates activated carbon and micro-sand through a hydrocyclone for separation. Saturated PAC is discharged, while a portion is returned to the system.
Process Advantages
● Recycled activated carbon usage: Saturated adsorption reduces costs by 50% compared to single-use PAC.
● High-efficiency removal: Effectively eliminates organic pollutants, turbidity, color, TOC, and algae.
● High surface loading rate: No PAC leakage in effluent due to efficient sedimentation.
● Compact footprint: Occupies 10–30 times less space than conventional sedimentation tanks.
● Rapid startup: Achieves stable operation within 10–30 minutes.
● Short contact time: Prevents bacterial and microbial growth during treatment.
